Emergency Medicine Clerkship

Our elective four-week rotation is based upon exposure to learning in a busy, high-acuity Emergency Department. The OUDEM medical student experiences are offered both in Oklahoma City and in Tulsa. In addition to a broad range of patient types and acuity, students will be exposed to myriad cutting-edge diagnostic, therapeutic, and educational approaches. State-of-the-art topics and technology include bedside ultrasound, advanced airway fiberoptics, retinal photography, and high-fidelity patient simulation.

During the rotation, students attend educational sessions that include weekly lecture-hall and simulation programs. The didactics sessions, held on Thursday mornings, are open to any student (regardless of whether they are enrolled in the EM clerkship).

Any student from a U.S. medical school interested in rotating with OUDEM in either Oklahoma City or Tulsa, should contact Dr. Bo Burns, Associate Professor and The George Kaiser Family Foundation Chair in Emergency Medicine.
