The practice setting of much of Oklahoma means that an EM specialist working in our state must truly be able to "handle it."  The OU EM residency qualifies graduates to execute initial evaluation and stabilization of high-complexity patients who will require cutting-edge, multidisciplinary care.  Just as importantly, our graduates are also prepared for situations where the Emergency Physician is the only locally available care provider.  Whether the case is a cardiotoxic overdose, a head injury, an acute myocardial infarction, or a fingertip amputation, the OU EM residency graduates are equipped with the tools to "handle it" in a manner appropriate to their own clinical practice settings.
